About WIEN KLASSIK
Association for Friends of Classical Music
Based in Vienna, one of the world’s most distinguished centers of classical music, WIEN KLASSIK – Association for Friends of Classical Music draws inspiration from the city’s rich and enduring musical heritage. The Association is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of classical music, the artistic development of young musicians, excellence in professional music education, and the promotion of international artistic and cultural exchange.
WIEN KLASSIK actively brings together distinguished musical and educational resources from Vienna and across Austria. Through artistic and educational collaborations with professors, performers, and music educators affiliated with leading European institutions, including the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK), Mozarteum University Salzburg, and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), the Association seeks to connect Austria’s distinguished musical traditions and educational expertise with the artistic and professional development of emerging musicians worldwide.
Through concerts, international masterclasses, music festivals, young artist programs, professional music education initiatives, and international music study and cultural exchange programs, WIEN KLASSIK provides a dynamic platform connecting young musicians and music students from diverse cultural backgrounds with professional performance opportunities, distinguished educators, and international artistic networks. These initiatives enable participants to study, perform, collaborate, and exchange ideas within Austria’s vibrant musical environment, while developing the artistic perspectives, professional experience, and international connections essential to their future careers.
Rooted in Vienna. Connected across Austria. Engaged with the World.
WIEN KLASSIK is committed not only to welcoming talented young musicians from around the world to Vienna, but also to bringing the musical heritage, artistic values, and educational traditions of Vienna and Austria to a broader international audience.
The Association aspires to serve as a cultural bridge between tradition and innovation, artistry and education, emerging musicians and the international stage, and Vienna and the wider world. By fostering artistic excellence, intercultural dialogue, and meaningful educational opportunities, WIEN KLASSIK seeks to ensure that the musical traditions cultivated in Austria over centuries continue to flourish through the learning, creativity, and performances of future generations.
